Biography
Cameron Michelle Diaz was born August 30, 1972 and raised in Long Beach, California. Cameron, part Cuban, part Native-American and part German, was a mischievous kid and says that she would 'cause trouble and then duck it'. When Cameron was just 16 years old, she was scouted by Elite Models andleft home to pursue a modeling career. In the next 5 years, she lived in big fashion-locations such as Paris, Japan, Australia, Mexico and Marocco and was a model for Kalvin Clein, Levi's and Coca-Cola.

In 1994, at the age of 21, Cameron auditioned for the role as Jim Carrey's girlfriend, femme fatale Tina Carlyle, in comedy "The Mask". Eventhough she didn't have any acting experience, Cameron got the part. For the next two years, Cameron worked non-stop to develope her acting skills. She appearaed in films like the black comedy "The Last Supper", romantic comedy "She's the One" for director Edward Burns, "Feeling Minnesota" opposite Keanu Reeves, and thriller "Head Above Water". In 1996, Cameron was named ShoWest's Female Star of Tomorrow by the National Associate of Theatre Owners. A year later, she established herself as a star in romantic comedy "My Best Friend's Wedding" opposite Julia Roberts and Dermot Mulroney. The movie was a hit and one of the top 10-grossing films of 1997, as well as earned Cameron the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favorite Support Actress in Comedy.

After starring opposite Ewan McGregor in Danny Boyle's "A Life Less Ordinary", she took on the title role in blockbuster romantic comedy "There's Something About Mary", directed by the Farrelly brothers. The role as Mary Jensen brought her the New York Film Critics Circle Award as Best Actress plus a Golden Globe nomination, the American Comedy Award, the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Best Actress in Comedy and the MTV Movie Award for Best Female Performance. The sameyear, Cameron starred in thriller-comedy "Very Bad Things". In 1999, Diaz portrayed Lotte Schwarts in Spike Jonze's critically acclaimed movie "Being John Malkovich", which earned her nomnations for Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and BAFTA Awards. When speaking about the movie she said 'It's been said that in Hollywood there are only 14 different scripts. Well, this is number 15'. Her role as Christina Pagniacci in Oliver Stone's "Any Given Sunday" brought her another Blockbuster Entertainment Award, this time for Favorite Actress. In the movie, Cameron starred opposite big names as Al Pacino, Jamie Foxx, Dennis Quaid and Ann-Margret.

Diaz took on the role of Natalie Cook in the feature film adaptation of '70s TV Series "Charlie's Angels" in 2000. She starred opposite Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, Bill Murray, Matt LeBlanc and Luke Wilson. The movie was a world-wide hit and the 'angels' recieved a Blockbuster Entertainment Award and were selected Favorite Action Team, while Cameron won the Best Dance Sequence at the 2001 MTV Movie Awards. The sequel, "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle", once again directed by McG, hit cinemas in 2003. All the main stars were back as well as new faces such as Demi Moore and John Cleese.

In the year of 2000, Cameron also appeared in "Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at her" along with Glenn Close, Calista Flockhart and Holly Hunter. A year later, she starred in "The Invisible Circus", adapted from the novel written by Jennifer Egan, and the animated world-wide blockbuster hit "Shrek". Cameron provided the voice of feisty Princess Fiona and starred opposite Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and John Lithgow. "Shrek" set box-office records with both it's theatrical and DVD releases. The movie was loved by both viewers and critics and it recieved a lot of awards and nominations, it even won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The sequel, "Shrek 2", hit cinemas in 2004 and became an even bigger box-office hit. This time celebrities like Antonio Banderas, John Cleese, Julie Andrews, Rupert Everett and Jennifer Saunders joined the team.

Cameron was nominated for a Golden Globe, AFI and SAG Awards and was chosen the Best Supporting Actress by the Boston Society of Film Critics for her portrayal of Julianna Gianni in 2001's "Vanilla Sky" opposite with Tom Cruise, Penélope Cruz, Jason Lee and Kurt Russell. The next year she starred in the romantic comedy "The Sweetest Thing" alongside Christina Applegate and Selma Blair, Oscar-nominated "Gangs of New York" opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis and Liam Neeson. The movie, directed by Martin Scorsese, earned Cameron a Golden Globe nomination for Supporting Actress. That same year she had small roles in "My Father's House" and "Minority Report", yet another movie starring Tom Cruise.

With the year of 2005 came another critically acclaimed success for Cameron, "In Her Shoes". The movie, directed by Curtis Hanson, starred Cameron, Toni Collette and Shirley MacLaine. Cameron portrayed the somewhat egoistic partygirl, Maggie Feller, who constantly is ruining her sister Rose's (Toni Collette) life. Maggie moves to their grandmother at a senior's place in Miami after Rose walks in on her sleeping with Rose's boyfriend. They live their seperate lifes until their grandmother get them to reunite. Cameron and Toni became close friends and still are.

During 2004 and 2005, Cameron explored some of the environmentally unique locations on the planet while discovering ways to help preserve them for the 10-episode series "Trippin'" on MTV. She travelled with friends like Drew Barrymore, Jessica Alba, Rbecca Rominj Stamos and Kid Rock. When talking about the series Cameron says 'I didn't want a reality show about me being cute, I wanted to make the locations the star. Patagonia is one of the purest places on the planet, but now it's starting to fall apart from the pollution'.

Eventhough Cameron's one of the world's best best paid actresses, the magazines tend to focus more on her private life than on her acting. When she started dating singer Justin Timberlake in 2003, neither Cameron or Justin wanted to talk about the relationship in public. This gave the press an opportunity to make up stories, 'I'm thankful it's not my real life - every three months I'm planning a wedding and calling it off', she said about the frequent rumors. In December, 2006, more and more break-up rumors started to surround the couple and Cameron and Justin released an official statement saying that they were no longer a couple in early January, 2007.

In December of 2006, "The Holiday", featuring Cameron, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black, opened in cinemas to great numbers and Cameron promoted the movie everywhere. "The Holiday" centers around two women on opposite sides of the globe, Amanda Woods and Iris Simpkins, who find themselves in a similar predicament. Desperate for a change of scenery, the two women meet on the internet and decide swap houses for the Christmas holiday, discovering that a change of address really can change your life. On May 18 2007, the very anticipated "Shrek the Third" premiered in US cinemas. The movie had the voices of Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, Rupert Everett, Julie Andrews, Justin Timberlake, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Cheri Oteri and Amy Sedaris. Cameron went all over the world to promote the movie, and visited places like Australia, Japan, Taiwan, England, France and Germany. Short after "Shrek the Third" hit theaters it was announced a 4th installment would be released in 2010. In the holiday season of 2007, "Shrek the Halls" will air as a special movie at ABC.

It was announced in May, 2007, that Cameron would star in the romantic comedy "What Happens in Vegas..." opposite Ashton Kutcher. The movie is about two people who discover they've gotten married following a night of debauchery, with one of them winning a huge jackpot after playing the other's quarter. The unhappy pair then tries to undermine each other and get their hands on the money - falling in love along the way. This wasn't the only new project Cameron announced in the early summer of 2007. In June a new movie was revealed - the horror movie "The Box", in which she'll star with James Marsden and Frank Langella. The movie focuses on an unhappy married couple who receive a small wooden box on their doorstep. At the push of a button, the box brings its bearer instant wealth but also instantly kills someone the bearer doesn’t know. Different things willhappen depending on which buttons she presses. Modi Wiczyk, the founder of MRC (the production company), said that "The storyline has all the commerciality of "The Ring", but with Richard and Cameron, this film can rise to the level of "Rosemary’s Baby" and "The Others"".

During the summer of 2007 it was announced that Cameron also was to star in the drama "My Sister's Keeper". The movie centers around a former defense attorney (played by Cameron Diaz) who returns to the courtroom to defend herself and her husband when they are sued by their 13-year-old daughter for emancipation. The girl was conceived as a genetic match with the hope she could prolong her cancer-ridden sister’s life. She'll act opposite the Fanning-sisters Dakota and Elle.

After keeping a low profile in about a month after the "Shrek the Third" promotion tour, Cameron started to shoot "What Happens in Vegas..." in late August. Eventhough the movie is named after Las Vegas, most of the filming took place in New York City. She was very often photographed during the shooting, and even recieved flowers, cards and balloons by fans and photographers on her 35th birthday. Shortly after the "Vegas"-filming was wrapped, she moved on to Boston to start the filming of "The Box".

Who knows what more the future has in store for Cameron Diaz, and to quote herself; 'I don't know what I'm doing half the time, but I enjoy doing it', I'm sure she has a bright life in front of her.
