Thanks to Access Hollywood, we can clear up some rumours regarding Cameron’s “hospital visit”. Earlier in the week, reports surfaced claiming that Cameron’s “What Happens in Vegas” co-star, Ashton Kutcher, had told reporters she was receiving “medical attention,” due to the loss of her father.
“These reports are absolutely untrue,” a rep for Cameron told Access Hollywood. “She has taken time off to be with her family and plans to return to work next week.”
The results for the FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2008 poll are in - and Cameron has climbed up lots of places since last year! Then she was at #62, but this year she comes in at the fantastic #18! Over 9 million voters can’t be wrong - our girl definitely keeps on improving. ;) The sexiest woman according to the poll is “Transformers” star Megan Fox, with Jessica Biel and Jessica Alba rounding up the top three.
Big thanks to CD Fan, once again, for the heads up!
Cameron Diaz’s family remembered her father Emilio for his humor and honesty, and said they’re coping with his April 15 death with the help of “an amazing outpouring of love.”
“His love for laughter was undeniable and he embraced life head-on in such a dynamic way that he was impossible to forget,” the family said in an exclusive statement to People Magazine.
Emilio Diaz, 58, died from post-influenza MRSA pneumonia, an aggressive staph infection that can occur in all ages and in otherwise healthy people, the family said.
The Cuban-American Emilio, who is survived by wife Billie and their daughters Cameron, 35, and Chimene, 37, was a “playful abuelo” – Spanish for grandpa – who was “incredibly loyal and dependable” and always ready to “standup up for those who were less fortunate.”
“As a family, it is almost impossible to put into words how amazing Emilio was,” they said. “The one thing that was a certainty with Emilio was that you always knew where you stood with him. He was so honest and always spoke his mind.”
He also “loved to share his love through laughter,” the family said.
“The thing that was most important to him was his family,” they said. “And he often said that his greatest accomplishment was raising two people that were better human beings than he was. He was devoted to each family member equally and was proud of the accomplishments they all made.”
The Diaz family, they said, is dealing with their loss “through support and love from family and friends and the amazing outpouring of love and admiration from those people whose lives Emilio touched.”
Talented and beautiful actress Natalie Portman has been named the most eco-friendly star, after topping a list of celebrities who go out of their way to care for the planet. She won a special mention at green website Grist.org - who praised her work to save gorillas in Rwanda, her role as the face of a low-energy lightbulb company and the launch of her vegan shoe range.
Other stars to be honoured by the planet-friendly firm include Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt.
Cameron Diaz got some friendly support from her exes Justin Timberlake and John Mayer as her family held a memorial service for her late father Sunday.
Emilio Diaz, 58, died of pneumonia Tuesday morning. On Wednesday, Cameron, 35, thanked everyone for their condolences in a message that read: “His humor and spirit will always live on in our hearts.”
And in keeping with that exuberant Diaz family spirit, guests arrived at the memorial service at Mahe in Seal Beach in non-traditional garb. “Most people started arriving at 1:30 and hardly no one wore black,” says a source.”Lots of people were wearing Hawaiian shirts. It looked more like a party.”
Timberlake and Mayer arrived separately and stayed until most people started leaving around 4 p.m. – after Cameron had spoken a few words to the group.
Cameron Diaz sends her thanks to the fans for their support following the death of her father through this short message below.
“My mom, sister and I are deeply appreciative of the overwhelming outpouring of love and support during this difficult time for us and all of our family. My dad was loved by so many people and his humour and spirit will always live on in our hearts.” Cameron said in a statement to US magazine.
It’s with sadness I bring you the news that Emilio Diaz, Cameron Diaz’s father, died suddenly early yesterday morning.
The just-58-year-old, a popular resident of Seal Beach, California, recently developed the flu which then turned into pneumonia. His death was “shocking” as Emilio was in “terrific health.” Cameron is currently filming her upcoming flick “My Sister’s Keeper.” A source on the set has said that production on the film has been shut down.
My deepest condolences to Cameron and her family. I ask you all to please respect the Diaz family’s privacy during this time of grieving. Your fans’ thoughts are with you.
